Every day thousands of organisations, just like yours, place their trust in Microsoft 365 to safeguard business-critical data including vital emails, customer data, and sensitive documents. But did you know that data that is stored in Microsoft 365 is vulnerable to deletion and corruption?

Backing up your data with a reliable solution separate from the app is necessary to ensure you avoid irreparable and damaging data loss.

We recommend all customers enable our backup service on Microsoft 365 Accounts called Datto SaaS.

It backs up all of the data in a user’s mailbox, but also backs up other parts of their Office 365 account.

Why Backup my Data?

Having Datto SaaS Protection enabled is particularly important for customers who utilise Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive because a common misconception is that you don’t need to worry about the backup of SharePoint Online. The truth is that the backup of your SharePoint Online data is your own responsibility.

Microsoft State, "We strive to keep the Services up and running; however, all online services suffer occasional disruptions and outages, and Microsoft is not liable for any disruption or loss you may suffer as a result. In the event of an outage, you may not be able to retrieve Your Content or Data that you’ve stored. We recommend that you regularly backup Your Content and Data that you store on the Services or store using Third-Party Apps and Services."

Protection for your accounts will cover you against the following risks:

  • Unintentional deletion.
  • Intentional deletion.
  • Hardware malfunction or system crash.
  • Malicious software / Cyber Attacks.

It also has the following advantages:

  • Datto SaaS Protection has an "Infinite Retention" option, meaning there is no limit on how far back you can restore.
  • Data is backed up several times per day.
