At Apex, our Values aren't simply words on a wall; they shape how we work, how we support our customers and how we show up for one another every day. From taking ownership when a customer needs help to sharing knowledge across the team, these values can be seen in the small, consistent actions that make a real difference. Our annual Living the Values Awards give us an opportunity to pause and recognise the people who bring those principles to life, often without seeking recognition for doing so.
This year, Administration Assistant Hasan Iqbal, was named the winner of our Always a Team award. We caught up with Hasan to find out what the recognition means to him, how teamwork shapes his day-to-day work and what he enjoys most about being part of the Apex team.

How did it feel when your name was announced as the Reliable award winner?
I feel proud of what I've achieved. Being recognised for an award is a great feeling, and it's even better to know that your colleagues recognise what you mean to them.
What does being Always a Team mean in your day-to-day work?
Always a Team is one that I embody day to day. Working alongside my colleagues, helping to support them where I can, but also acknowledging advice and support that's given to me.
What's been your proudest moment at Apex so far?
I've taken on a lot of crucial finance tasks over the past 12 months; I have been relied on, which indicated the trust that is shown in me.
What's one thing you've learnt at Apex that has stuck with you?
To always ask "Why". This has helped me many a time to understand situations and to understand more about what we're doing and why we're doing it. Asking why also helps with having pride in what you're doing as you understand what it means to you and what it means to Apex.
Hasan Iqbal (Administration Assistant)
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I go to the gym most days. I like being active, so walking and staying as fit as I can is what I enjoy.
What keeps you motivated to do your best work?
I think learning something new is what keeps me motivated. A lot of things in life are taught by you physically doing i, so being in a busy workplace environment means you're always developing skills that will stay with you forever.
If you had a completely free weekend, how would you spend it?
A nice steak with some peppercorn sauce made by the best chef I know (me). I like sports recovery also, so sauna and cold plunge is something I really like doing.
How did you get into working in administration and finance?
I started on the admin apprenticeship when I turned 19. Ever since then, I've been gaining valuable experience at Apex, and I have been fortunate to dip my toes into a few different parts of the business. This was both marketing and finance, and I have chosen finance as my career path. I am currently on an AAT course, which is helping me develop and understand more about finance at Apex.
What's the best piece of advice you've ever received (either personally or professionally)?
A quote that I came across a few years ago and still lives with me is "The cold water doesn't get any warmer if you delay jumping in". It's a quote that I tell myself often when it comes to taking on new things in life, whether it's at Apex or away from work. It's a reminder for me to always take the chance, think less about it and go all in and expect to make mistakes which could help me turn into lessons. Delaying tasks won't make my life any easier, so waiting on the edge will only keep you away from achieving what you want in this life.
