At Apex, our Values aren't simply words on a wall; they shape how we work, how we support our customers and how we show up for one another every day. From taking ownership when a customer needs help to sharing knowledge across the team, these values can be seen in the small, consistent actions that make a real difference. Our annual Living the Values Awards give us an opportunity to pause and recognise the people who bring those principles to life, often without seeking recognition for doing so.
This year, T3 Engineer Ross Ansell was named the winner of our Relaible award. We caught up with Ross to find out what the recognition means to him, how reliability shapes his day-to-day work and what he enjoys most about being part of the Apex team.

How did it feel when your name was announced as the Reliable award winner?
It was a really proud moment. Being recognised for Reliable meant a lot to me, as I always try to be someone the team and our customers can depend on. It was great to know that the effort I put into supporting others and getting things done had been noticed and appreciated.
What does being Reliable mean in your day-to-day work?
To me, Reliable means being someone that people can trust and depend on day to day. Whether that's supporting colleagues, helping customers, or taking ownership of an issue, I try to make sure that if I say I'm going to do something, I follow it through. It's about being consistent, approachable and making sure people know they can rely on me when they need support.
What's been your proudest moment at Apex so far?
My proudest moment at Apex has been winning the Living the Values Award this year. Last year, I was nominated and finished as a runner-up, so to come back this year and win makes the recognition feel even more meaningful.
What keeps you motivated to do your best work?
What motivates me most is being able to help others and knowing that people feel comfortable approaching me when they need support. I enjoy being someone others can rely on, and seeing that my knowledge or assistance has made a difference keeps me motivated to do my best.

What's one thing you've learnt at Apex that has stuck with you?
One thing I've learnt at Apex that has really stuck with me is that we're more than just colleagues; we're a team and a family. Everyone is willing to support each other, share knowledge and help whenever someone needs it.
What advice would you give to someone looking to embody being Reliable more strongly?
I'd say be someone others can depend on. Follow through on what you say you'll so, support your colleagues, and don't be afraid to offer help. Reliability is about consistency, trust and making sure people know they can always approach you.
What's one hidden gem in the local area you'd recommend everyone to visit/do?
I'd recommend the Vimto Monument in Manchester - a quirky hidden gem celebrating a true Manchester original. The giant bottle marks where Vimto was first created in 1908 and is a great little stop to discover some of the city's more unusual history.
What's the best piece of advice you've ever received (either personally or professionally)?
One of the best pieces of advice I've taken to heart is Walt Disney's: "The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing." It's a reminder that progress comes from taking action, learning as you go, and not being afraid to get started.
