At Apex Computing, giving back to our community is a key part of who we are. Recently, team members Brandon, Hasan, and Harvey spent the day with Team Rise, a local North West-based charity dedicated to supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism through inclusive, engaging activities that promote confidence, independence, and fun, as well as delivering a cheque to them following some amazing fundraising by our team!
Who Are Team Rise?
Team Rise provides vital social, recreational, and developmental support to people who are often underserved in our communities. From baking and music to exercise and arts & crafts, their sessions create a safe, welcoming environment where everyone is encouraged to thrive. Their work helps reduce isolation, build new skills, and most importantly, bring joy to the lives of the people they support.
Here's what Brandon had to say...
Team Rise provide a wonderful service to their members, a service that is often overlooked.... Making people happy. It is sometimes difficult to see the difference you make at a charity or in a community when you choose to volunteer or contribute, at Team Rise though it has an immediate impact.
If I, and Apex, can help Team Rise continue making members at Team Rise happy, what a difference that makes. So very happy to see that difference in the smiles on members faces. Now that is a difference worth making. Some businesses talk about making a difference and enabling growth and that is fantastic. The more that make a positive impact in the community, the better. At Apex though, this is just one of the many ways we "Enable Growth". We don't just talk about our values, we live them.
A Day Full of Heart (and Cake!)
During our visit, Hasan rolled up his sleeves to help Team Rise beneficiaries, volunteers, and staff whip up a batch of delicious cakes, bringing smiles and laughter to the kitchen. Meanwhile, Brandon brought his guitar along, sharing his musical talents with the group – his live acoustic performance sparking a singalong and dancing that filled the room with energy.

We had a wonderful time at Team Rise. Looking back, I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to spend the day there and see the incredible work the charity does firsthand. Donating to a cause is one thing, but witnessing the real impact they have on people’s lives opens your eyes to just how much goes unnoticed in the world. It was a humbling and inspiring experience. We hope this visit is just one of many from Apex. Team Rise is a fantastic local charity based in East Lancashire, and we’re looking forward to supporting them even more in the future. A big thank you to Brandon and Apex for giving me the opportunity, and to everyone at Team Rise for welcoming us so warmly. It was a privilege to spend time with such an incredible organisation.
