Known for her enthusiasm, creativity and commitment to delivering high-quality work, Rachael consistently goes above and beyond to support both her colleagues and the wider goals of Apex.
At this year’s Living the Values Awards, Rachael was recognised for the positive impact she has made across the business and the way she demonstrates Apex’s Values in her day-to-day work. What's been your proudest moment at Apex so far?
It was an incredibly proud and slightly surreal moment. We were shortlisted alongside some fantastic MSPs, so I knew the competition was strong and genuinely did not expect our name to be called. When it was announced, I think the first feeling was complete shock, followed very quickly by pride. Marketing came fully in-house in early 2025, so to receive that recognition after such an intensive year of building, testing and improving meant a great deal. It also felt like recognition for the whole Apex team, because so many people contributed their time, ideas and expertise to the work that helped us win.
What keep you motivated to do your best work?
I’m motivated by seeing an idea turn into something that creates a real result, whether that’s generating an opportunity, strengthening a customer relationship or helping a colleague feel recognised. Marketing is incredibly varied, so there is always a new challenge to tackle. Knowing that my work contributes to Apex’s continued growth keeps me focused and enthusiastic.
What's been your proudest moment at Apex so far?
I enjoy the people and the genuine sense that everyone wants Apex to succeed. There are lots of different personalities, skills and perspectives across the business, but people are always willing to share their knowledge or help when needed. It makes Apex feel like a team rather than simply a group of people who work for the same company. As a company they're also massively supportive of my mental health and career progression; they are even supporting me while I take on a part-time Master's degree!
How do you feel the team at Apex live the Values daily?
I see the Values reflected in the way people support customers and one another every day. It can be seen in someone taking ownership of an issue, sharing their expertise, recognising a colleague or putting in extra effort to achieve the right outcome. The Values are most powerful when they influence those everyday decisions, rather than only being discussed at awards time.

What's one thing you've learnt at Apex that has stuck with you?
I’ve learnt that clear communication makes an enormous difference. People cannot support an idea, campaign or change if they do not understand why it matters. Taking the time to explain the purpose, listen to different perspectives and involve the right people often produces a much stronger outcome than trying to move something forward alone.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside work, I enjoy travelling, spending time with friends and family, and finding opportunities to properly switch off. I love experiencing different places, trying new food and making memories with the people closest to me. Having that time away from work helps me return with more energy, perspective and often some fresh creative ideas.
If you had a completely free weekend, how would you spend it?
A nice steak with some peppercorn sauce made by the best chef I know (me). I like sports recovery also, so sauna and cold plunge is something I really like doing.
How did you get into working in administration and finance?
I started on the admin apprenticeship when I turned 19. Ever since then, I've been gaining valuable experience at Apex, and I have been fortunate to dip my toes into a few different parts of the business. This was both marketing and finance, and I have chosen finance as my career path. I am currently on an AAT course, which is helping me develop and understand more about finance at Apex.
What's the best piece of advice you've ever received (either personally or professionally)?
One of the best lessons I’ve learnt is not to wait for everything to be perfect before making progress. It is important to care about quality, but sometimes you need to put an idea forward, gather feedback and improve it as you go. Starting the conversation is often what turns a good idea into something genuinely valuable.
