The colleague everyone turns to: Simon Mills wins August Employee of the Month

At Apex Computing, we're incredibly fortunate to have people who consistently go above and beyond for their colleagues, customers, and the wider business. This month, we're delighted to recognise Simon Mills, Service Desk Manager, as our August Employee of the Month.

Simon was nominated for the support, guidance and encouragement he provides every day. One colleague said: "Since I started here, I have received nothing but support and encouragement from the team, especially from Simon. There has never been a time where he has said, "No, I'm too busy", when I've asked for help or advice. I have seen countless occasions where people have come to him one after another for support, and he always takes the time to help whenever he can."

Anyone who has worked alongside Simon will recognise exactly why he received this recognition. As Service Desk Manager, he plays a crucial role in keeping things running smoothly, but what stands out most is his willingness to help others succeed. Whether it's offering guidance to a colleague, sharing knowledge, helping to solve a challenging issue, or simply making time for someone who needs support, Simon approaches every interaction with patience, professionalism, and genuine care.

The impact of that attitude reaches far beyond his own role. Simon has built a reputation as someone people can rely on. Colleagues know they can turn to him for advice, reassurance, or a second opinion, and they know he will always make time to help. It's this commitment to teamwork and supporting others that helps make Apex such a positive place to work.

Fittingly, Simon was recently recognised in our Living the Values Awards as Apex's "Always a Team" Advocate, reflecting the same qualities highlighted in this Employee of the Month nomination.
