As Apex continues to grow, maintaining strong, proactive relationships with our customers remains central to the way we work. That is why we are delighted to welcome Iain Kingston to the business as our new Head of Client Services.
Iain has been settling into Apex over the last couple of months to lead our Client Services team and strengthen the way we support, communicate with and build long-term relationships with our customers. His role will help ensure that, as the business develops, our customers continue to receive the personal, responsive and dependable service they expect from Apex.

Strengthening how we support our customers
Technology is only one part of a successful IT partnership. Customers also need clear communication, regular guidance and a team that takes the time to understand their business, priorities and future plans.
Creating the Head of Client Services role reflects Apex’s continued growth and our commitment to developing the client relationship side of the business alongside our technical services. Iain is working closely with our customers and teams across Apex, helping to make sure feedback is heard, opportunities for improvement are identified and our services continue to evolve around what businesses genuinely need.
Getting to know Iain
Before joining Apex, Iain spent more than 40 years in IT support, service delivery, and leadership roles across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, transport, local government, banking and finance, fashion and retail, and regulatory services. Throughout his career, his focus has always been on delivering exceptional customer service rather than simply managing technology.
Iain's customer-facing skills were developed long before he entered the world of IT, during a successful career as a bar and nightclub manager in London and Brighton. Although his career has taken him across a variety of sectors and locations, Manchester has been home for the past 18 years.
His extensive experience in ITIL, leadership, management, and coaching positions him well to lead Apex's Client Services team. Having worked across so many different industries, he brings a unique understanding of the challenges businesses face, and the role technology plays in supporting their success. This experience enables him to build strong, trusted relationships with customers and to appreciate their needs from their own perspective.
Fun fact about Iain: He lived in Paris for three years but still insists his French leaves a lot to be desired. Years after returning to the UK, a role required him to speak and write in French professionally, so he enrolled in language lessons to improve his skills. After the very first lesson, his teacher delivered a memorable assessment: "Tu massacres le français!" ("You massacre the French language!"). Thankfully, Iain took the feedback in good humour and continued to improve.
Since joining the business, Iain has already begun working with colleagues across Apex and getting to know our customers, their businesses and the challenges they face.
Iain said: "From my very first conversation with Apex, I was excited by the company's commitment to its customers. There is a genuine desire to be the trusted IT partner for every customer, regardless of their size, sector, or requirements.
Since joining Apex, I have been particularly impressed by the way our Relationship Managers engage with customers and the strength of the relationships they have built. By developing those relationships further, we can help customers gain even greater value from their technology investments.
My ambition is for Apex to have a deep understanding of our customers' business plans, strategies, and long-term objectives, enabling us to become truly proactive partners. By aligning technology with their goals, we can help guide, support, and accelerate their success."
Looking ahead
In his role as Head of Client Services, Iain will focus on embedding industry best practices in customer relationship management, developing a clear Client Services strategy, and delivering customer-focused reporting built on trusted, meaningful data.
He will work closely with teams across Apex to ensure customer insight helps shape how we develop our services, enhance the customer experience, and deliver support. By connecting customer priorities with the right expertise across the business, Iain will help strengthen strategic partnerships, drive continual improvement, and deliver an even more seamless and joined-up experience for our customers.
Chris Gorman, CEO at Apex, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Iain as our Head of Client Services. As the business continues to grow, it’s important that we have dedicated leadership in place to strengthen our customer relationships and make sure we continue delivering the high level of service our customers expect.
“Iain has already hit the ground running, working closely with the team and beginning to build relationships across the business. I’m looking forward to seeing the impact his vast experience and leadership will have on our Client Services team and, most importantly, on the experience we provide to our customers.”
We are all excited to have Iain as part of Team Apex and look forward to working with him as we continue developing the service, support and long-term partnerships we provide to our customers.
Welcome to Apex, Iain!
