We're delighted to announce Kate Bereti, our Senior Account Manager as our Customer Focused Advocate following our Living The Values Awards at our Summer Family BBQ. The awards were given based on feedback and nominations from everyone here at Apex!
What does it mean to you to receive the Customer Focused Award, especially knowing it was based on nominations from your peers?
Winning the Customer Focused Award was really special. Knowing that it was my colleagues who nominated me made it even more meaningful, it showed me that the effort I put in to building relationships and looking after our customers is recognised not just by clients, but also by the team I work with every day. Reading their comments was heart-warming, and it gave me even more motivation to keep improving and supporting our customers.
What do the Apex Values mean to you personally, and how do they shape the way you approach your work at Apex?
To me, the Apex Values are about trust, teamwork, and putting the customer first. They shape how I approach every day, whether that's being transparent with a customer about their options, collaborating with colleagues to deliver the best outcomes, or going the extra mile to ensure clients feel supported. The values aren't just words on a wall at Apex; they're genuinely lived, and that's what makes working here so rewarding.
"Since joining Apex, Kate has been the one person I can rely on, she involves doing what’s right for the business and the customer, she is also very transparent and stands by strong moral principles and procedures. I have noticed Kate is good when collaborating with customers/suppliers and supporting colleagues to get the best possible outcome, nothing is too much for Kate, she will accommodate with any questions/requests no matter how busy she is."
What does a typical day at Apex look like for you?
A typical day for me involves working closely with around 50 of our managed IT customers, running business reviews, and ensuring their IT setups are aligned with their business goals. I spend time listening to their challenges and helping shape solutions that make a real difference. What excites me most is seeing the impact of those solutions, whether that's a smooth cloud migration, a full hardware refresh, or simply giving them confidence that Apex has their IT covered so they can focus on their business.
What's the most memorable project or task you've worked on at Apex?
My proudest achievement to date was leading a full IT hardware refresh for one of our premier, world-renowned clients. The project involved replacing around 8- pieces of hardware and required input from multiple departments across Apex. I headed up the rollout, ensuring everyone was aligned to the timeline, the client was kept regularly informed, and the disruption to their business was kept to an absolute minimum. It was a complex, high-profile project, but seeing it completed smoothly, and the client delighted with the outcome made it my biggest achievement so far at Apex.
"I was really pleased to receive the Customer Focused Award at our Summer BBQ. What made it meaningful was that the nominations came from the colleagues I work with every day. Reading their feedback was humbling, and I'm grateful to everyone who took the time to share it. Putting customers first is something I care about, but it's only possible because I'm part of such a supportive team," said Kate.
What's your favourite part about working at Apex?
Without a doubt, it's the people. From the moment I joined, I felt welcomed and supported, and I've learnt everything I know by working alongside such a knowledgeable, approachable, and collaborative team. Everyone genuinely wants to help each other succeed, which makes Apex a brilliant place to work.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years?
In 5 years, I'd love to have deepened by technical knowledge and taken on more responsibility within the Client Services team, perhaps mentoring others who are newer to the role. In 10 years, I'd like to be in a senior leadership position at Apex, helping shape strategy and continuing to build strong, long-lasting customer relationships.
Born and bred in Greater Manchester or moved here?
I was born and bred in Stretford, so Manchester has always been home to me. At 20, I decided to pack up and move to Zakynthos, Greece, where I got married and started a family. After 11 years, we packed everything up again and returned to the UK in 2018. Coming back felt like a fresh start, but being back in Manchester also felt very homely.
How do you think Apex impact businesses in Greater Manchester specifically?
Apex plays a huge role in helping local businesses modernise and thrive. For small companies to larger organisations, we give them the IT tools and support they need to grow securely and confidently. Because we're Manchester-based ourselves, we understand the local business landscape and can offer that personal, community-focused touch that makes a real difference.
"Kate is the very definition of reliability. She can always be couinted on to follow the right process, deliver promptly, and make sure tasks are handled without fuss. Her customer focus is second to none - she always acts in the customer's best interests and ensures they get the service they deserve. Kate's dedication to her role, coupled with her integrity and consistent performance, makes her an invaluable part of the team."
What's a fun or surprising fact about you that most colleagues don't know?
A fun fact about me is that I can speak Greek. After living in Zakynthos for 11 years, I picked up the language and still use it whenever I get the chance, it always surprises people when they hear me switch from English to Greek in the office.
You've just won the lottery - what do you do?
If I won the lottery, the very first thing I'd do is buy a house. Since moving back to the UK, I've always rented, so owning my own home would be a huge milestone and a long-term goal achieved. After that, I'd love to treat my family to a holiday.
